2021.10.18 19:01 pooydragon45 I hate the smell of freshly cut grass.
It makes me want to throw up. I recently read its just grass releasing hormones as a defence mechanism so I kinda get it. But then again the spice in chillies was also supposed to be a defence mechanism. Either way all i am saying is i hate that smell and now i am trying not to hurl.

2021.10.18 19:01 2005sonics Understanding diminishing returns on MF is key to enjoying D2R
tldr: instead of a max mf build I chose power and it increased my enjoyment + speed of my farming, yielding better results
I found this website for calculating drops. When I increased the MF from 100 to 350 I saw a very small increase in drop rates. So I ran an experiment - I equipped my sorc with power only. +skills, +resistance, +life, with MF as an afterthought. 2 things happened:

2021.10.18 19:01 gemstun Realizing I think too much about how I imagine others perceive me. Could focused meditation be the answer?
Just what the title says. I meditate at least 10 minutes every single day, and yet one of my biggest challenges is that I get instantaneously caught up in a self perception of how I imagine others perceive me. This has the affect of poisoning interpersonal relationships, because I don’t react skillfully (not sure how else to state that…) during challenging interactions with others. For example, if a friend tells me I am wrong in what feels like an overly direct manner, I act very defensive rather than just watching how my mind reacts (and THEN choosing how to react). Or if I’m around a person I perceive to be very competitive, I’ll (later) notice that I had quickly put great effort into competing with them, rather than just first noticing how I feel vulnerable (and then choosing if and how to respond). I have a couple of friends that I really like overall, but our relationships are strained from time to time because they tend to get in other peoples faces about topic they feel strongly about, and I wish I could just let my overreaction go by… or potentially choose a more tactful way to respond or even set a boundary.
Sometimes I wish I had a pause button where I could just freeze time during my interactions with others, so I could observe how I’m processing my imagined beliefs about how the other person perceives me…and potentially change my reaction to this characterization.
Can anyone relate? Could focused meditation potentially help me make progress in this area that seems to be resistant to change.
Thanks for your response.

2021.10.18 19:01 WarlordToby [Request] [A3] [EU] All-rounder active chap for reasonable GMT games
I'm a 21 year old Finnish guy looking for a proper EU only unit that doesn't require me to stay up past midnight to participate in an OP. I am fine with all sorts of style though I prefer semi-realistic, organized units.
If possible, I would love it, if the unit uses mods on daily basis, the modlist would not be more than 20GB. I have been around groups those routinely run 30GB+ just to end up using small parts of said list. I am really fine with all kinds of OP styles, be it PvP, PvE and all that jazz. Here's to hoping there will be some solid groups there.

I mean it could be just conversations with their imaginary superiors to make them feel better.
I don’t think many of them would still have a job if they spoke to their superiors like that.

2021.10.18 19:01 aaru2572 21 F looking to work in compliance
I am a third year law student studying law in Dubai. It is a British Law Degree.
I am also thinking of getting into compliance related roles in the future.
I did a summer internship at an American Company essentially learning as much as I could about law and compliance as I could. I also am currently trying to pass my exams for the ICSA. I passed the foundation exam recently.
I am planning to move when I graduate. Most probably the UK since it lines up with my degree.
I am not sure how to "break" in to this industry exactly. There's not a lot of job opportunities here in Dubai.

2021.10.18 19:01 CantankerousGandalf Accounting for player combat shenanigans (Question)
[5e] [DM] I'm DMing for a group of friends consisting of new and old-school players who haven't played in years (since AD&D in one case). We're running LMoP into SKT. Everyone is having fun, but combat situations currently are more difficult than planned (this means I'm at risk of killing characters more often than I think I should be).
Last session was a blast, confirmed by the players telling me afterwards, "We thought our characters were all going to die for a while there, and it was awesome." That sounds great, especially since it was a Deadly encounter. I was fine with it because everyone had fun. But it was the only encounter the characters had that day and I consistently rolled average for the monsters versus the character's above-average rolls. Upon reflection, I think the problem was that these players don't have group tactics down yet and I am struggling to account for this when scaling the encounter to the number of players.
Here's what happens during typical encounters:
-The bard and rogue spend about a quarter of their turns examining things (walls, wells, etc.) and talking to creatures (including zombies that are already fighting their friends). In the future, I'll have things for them to find and creatures they can interact with in a meaningful way despite combat, but so far it hasn't made sense to do it in any combat on my end.
-The monk spends half his turns sprinting around buildings or other obstacle to attempt a surprise flanking maneuver that provides minimal in-game benefits.
-The druid wild shapes and soaks up damage, wild shapes again and soaks up damage, then retreats to hide and heal himself rather than healing the character who is at zero health (after typing this out, I realize this might be a problem that I need to point out to this player).
-The other two players hit things with their weapons early and often, and generally keep the party alive. One of these is a cleric who runs to aid anyone who is unconscious within three turns, so the druid's self-help isn't as much of a problem as it could be.
Does anyone have ideas or direction on how I should scale things to account for these shenanigans? I've considered setting up encounters as though we have one fewer PC for now, and just have the monsters attack as normal. Or I could have the enemies engage in similar shenanigans with interesting homebrewed story additions thrown in. But I'm looking for better ideas from experienced DMs; we're currently nowhere close to the guidelines of 6-8 medium or hard encounters per day.
